1099s will be issued for Strike Pay
|
|
Under explicit direction form our International Union, we will be issueing 1099-misc for Strike Benefits received during the 2016 Verizon Strike. You are free to do whatever you choose when filing your returns. However, CWA is recommending that you report the 1099 when you file.
- Only weekly flat payments received during the Strike will be reported on the 1099s. Reimbursements for Gas Receipts and Medical Expenses are not reported.
- You will receive your 1099 in the mail before January 31st.
- You will receive a 1099 only if you received more than $600.00 in strike payments (Total for the entire strike). Example: if you received $200.00 a week for 4 weeks, that is $800.00 total, you get a 1099.
- There should be no confusion, CWA Local 1120 is recommending that you report your 1099 when you file.
If you have questions about getting your 1099, please call your Business Agent. If you have questions about the contents of the 1099 call Secretary/ Treasurer John Zeolla at the Union Hall or email Zeolla.1120@gmail.com.
