A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

I hope this message finds you and your families healthy and safe. We now have 5 confirmed members that have tested positive for Covid-19 in Local 1120. There are 2 in our Marist unit, and 1 each at Vassar, Monroe Library and Verizon. Those members continue to recover, quarantining at home. 

At Verizon, the following Letters of Agreement have been extended through June 30, 2020: Bonus Pay - Work at home - Home garaging - Backup Care Benefits by Bright Horizons

Verizon’s Annual Funding notice for the VZ Pension Plan will be mailed to associates on or around April 27, 2020.

Marist has notified us that their Board is meeting the first week in May to discuss plans for reopening this Fall. We will keep you updated as soon as we know more information.  

Vassar has approached CWA and other Unions about possible financial relief for the College during this Pandemic. CWA has made it clear that we will listen to all of their concerns but, initially we do not believe that Vassar has made a compelling case for the need for relief. They have also not done anything to show they are taking any first steps to alleviate the problems they think may arise.

Any rumors coming out of any units are just that, rumors. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU HEAR THAT DOESN’T COME FROM YOUR UNION! 

Remember, if at any time you feel there is an unsafe condition that may put you at risk, report it to your Supervisor and contact a Steward or Business Agent immediately!
