IMPORTANT UPDATE

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

MondayJune 8, 2020

I hope this message finds you and your families healthy and safe.

The 6 members testing positive for Covid-19 continue to recover or have returned to work.

On Thursday, June 3, 2020 CWA ratified a tentative agreement on an MOA with Vassar College, which includes voluntary furloughs, wages and an extension of the CBA. I want to thank Carl Bertsche, Mary Beth Will and all the Stewards for their hard work and input during this process. I would also like to thank each and every one of the members that participated in the Zoom meeting and vote. Your questions were thorough and your support was greatly appreciated.

We are in the process of meeting with Vassar about Carpenters. We will update ASAP.

Marist has notified CWA that they will be meeting with their Board of Directors to discuss their plans moving forward this week. CWA has notified Marist that we would like to meet with them afterwards to discuss their findings and plans. We will update you ASAP.

Verizon has transitioned technicians back to working in homes. They have also changed the bonus pay from $300 a week to $60 a day for the days you work. This could be $420 a week if you work 7 days, or $60 a week if you work 1 day. The work from home agreement and home garaging will continue at this time. Contact your Business Agent if there are any questions on these issues.

Any rumors coming out of any units are just that, rumors. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU HEAR THAT DOESN’T COME FROM YOUR UNION!

Remember, if at any time you feel there is an unsafe condition that may put you at risk, report it to your Supervisor and contact a Steward or Business Agent immediately!

As this pandemic eases and businesses and the economy start to reopen, we must remain smart and take whatever precautions we can to avoid a setback.

In relation to the current social climate that we are experiencing now in America, I would ask that all members to take the time to reflect on the social injustices that have existed in the past, and still exist today. There is no room for any form racism in any of our lives. We should all be more aware of the plight of people who are less fortunate. We must all remember to treat everyone with the utmost respect no matter their race, religion or political beliefs. This is the core of what UNIONISM is!

ON BEHALF OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD OF CWA LOCAL 1120, BE SAFE AND STAY SAFE!!!

In Solidarity

Frank J Fauci Jr

President, CWA Local 1120
